Skateboarding has given me a lot. This project is my way of giving something back.

The Netherlands has nearly 700 skateparks, while Suriname has only one. That contrast stayed with me until I decided to take action.

Having a skatepark or simply a recreational space is essential for young people and the community as a whole.

Through my own experience with skateboarding, I’ve seen how much it can offer: not just as a sport, but as a form of creativity and self-expression. It has shaped me, and I know it can do the same for others.

I believe this project will open doors, create opportunities, and help build a new community in Suriname.

This is just the beginning.

FIRST EVENT

Together with the Patta Foundation, we organised a fundraiser at SkateCafé in Amsterdam. Donation-based, with an auction, Cash for Tricks sessions and a full community day.

All proceeds go towards building a skatepark in Paramaribo.

Alongside the organising, I was responsible for the merchandise of the project and making sure the story had a face to go with it.I’m proud of what we built together. Not just as a designer, but as a person and for the love of skate-culture.
